Acorns Autism Community Support has a fully equipped flat where people can explore and experience aspects of independent living.
We have a multi-sensory room, which has been designed to provide sensory stimulation in a relaxing environment. The room has proven therapeutic benefits for people who experience sensory processing difficulties associated with autism.

Our enthusiastic staff team ensure that everyone enjoys a variety of stimulating sessions and social interaction. Activities include:
Arts and crafts – We run numerous creative projects, such as painting, sewing, building, which can improve mood and cognitive function as well as fine tuning motor skills, concentration and creativity.
Games and social skills – We encourage the people we support to interact with peers through fun activities. This is a great approach for building social interaction, sharing and cooperation.
Music – We run music workshops that build on hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills when partnered with other activities such as dancing.
Computer – We have a number of computers so that people can increase their motivation to complete tasks, promote visual attention and enhance their problem solving skills.
Quiet rooms – The purpose of our quiet rooms are to provide a safe place to help the people we support with self-calming and to aid self-regulation.
Gym – Our gym helps to improve general health and well-being. Exercise also releases endorphins which can make you feel good. It can also ease anxiety and depression and additionally, lift mood.
