Supporting you

We offer respite support for up to five people at a time, for individuals with learning disabilities and physical disabilities with clinical needs. There are currently 18 people who regularly access Ten Acre Respite Service.

We can support people with severe epilepsy and challenging behaviour. We now also accommodate for people with mental health issues.

Many guests have communication needs, and staff make sure they always communicate in the way the individual prefers. We have menu and activity lists for each guest, showing their likes and dislikes.

Facilities

Ten Acre Respite Service has four bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities. The entire property is wheelchair accessible, with tracking hoists and other specialist features.

The team

Our staff ensure that each guest has an enjoyable and fulfilling stay. It is important that families and carers feel happy about the standard of the support we provide, and staff have built up a good rapport with the people we support and their relatives. Some of our guests’ families had not been on holiday for several years, but are now comfortable with the service we provide.

We promote independence and choice and ensure no decisions are made without input from the individual or someone close to them.

Most staff live nearby and have a good knowledge of the local area, which enables us to really be part of the community, using local shops, parks and pubs.

We also visit sports centres, garden centres and therapy services, using public transport or the service vehicle we have available.
