Woodham Lodge is our specialist residential care home in County Durham. Here, we provide support for up to six people with a range of needs and conditions, including learning disabilities, autism, and Down’s syndrome.

At Woodham Lodge, we empower the people we support to increase their confidence by developing their daily living and social skills.

We believe everyone has the right to live as independently as they choose, so we encourage everyone to get involved with activities at home and in the community.

We encourage each person to make choices about their support and shape the life they want. By pursuing meaningful opportunities and fostering positive relationships, we support everyone to be active in their communities. Embracing the wider support circle, we welcome visits from family and friends!

Facilities

Our six-bedroom home is accessible for wheelchair users throughout. We have an adapted bathroom with a high-low bath and an ceiling tracking hoist, as well as a wet room for showering and an adapted toilet area. Our bedrooms are equipped with adjustable beds, prioritising the comfort and safety of our housemates throughout the whole house.

We benefit from large communal areas for socialising. Alongside our spacious kitchen, dining room, and lounge, we also have a dedicated sensory area for housemates to relax in.

Community

Situated close to Newton Aycliffe’s town centre, we have lots of shops and cafés, a leisure centre, library, and health facilities a short distance away. Also within walking distance is the Pioneering Care Centre, which has facilities that benefit the health and wellbeing of the people we support. There’s lots to take advantage of, including a hydrotherapy pool, chiropodist, social evenings, and a café.

As a household, we also enjoy visiting the seaside and taking trips to our local theatre. We have great transport links nearby, and a service vehicle for trips further afield.

Our Team

Our dedicated and compassionate team are established and experienced in supporting the unique needs of everyone at Woodham Lodge. Using a person-centred approach, we take time to get to know the people we support as unique individuals. Building open and honest relationships, we promote individual choices and respect each person’s values, wishes, and needs.

We’re actively engaged with local health and wellbeing services and other professional organisations. Together, we work as a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring each person we support receives the very best care and support possible.
