Supporting you
At Glasshouse Hill we provide support for eleven people who have suffered a brain injury. We aim to support individuals to redevelop their cognitions and skills, including social and independence skills. Using slow stream rehabilitation, we empower the people we support with confidence in their abilities, celebrating small successes along the way. We are proudly accredited as a Headway Approved Provider.
Speech and Language, Neuro-physiotherapy, Neuro-occupational therapy and Psychology input are also available as required.
Programmes are carefully designed and integrated into each person’s daily routine. Support is based on rehabilitation techniques which strive to increase independence, and progress is monitored closely using Goal Attainment Scaling, which provides motivation.
In 2012 we were proud joint winners of the Laing and Buisson Specialist Care Award for the Brain Injury Rehabilitation category. The award recognised our four stage rehabilitation programme which supports individuals to work towards a gradual move back to their family home, or to a new home.
Facilities
Our home comprises eight en-suite bedrooms offering residential support, and three self-contained flats for those ready for added independence.
All bedrooms have the option of ceiling tracking if required, and the building is wheelchair accessible throughout.
We have dedicated rooms designed to enhance therapy delivery and skills development, including a training kitchen where the people we support can exercise their living skills in a functional way.
Our housemates enjoy a diverse programme of activities, tailored to meet individual needs and tastes. These include outdoor pursuits, music, art, and life skills workshops.
The team
Staff offer consistent support and help the people we support to set clear goals, and there are opportunities for people to move through a number of settings as they build their independence and confidence. The same team can provide continued support after the person we support moves into their own home for as long as it is needed.
