About Yvonne
I am a qualified Paediatric Nurse with 20 years of experience in Children's healthcare. I began my career working on an Under 2's and High Dependency Unit and then moved to a Respiratory Ward as a Band 6 Junior Sister.
From there I moved to be a Ward Manager for a 15 bedded General Peadiatric and Surgical Unit. I worked extensively in both the acute and community settings before taking a role as Practice Development Facilitator and Senior Management at a Children's Hospice. Working in the Hospice and community enabled me to learn and understand the importance of individualised holistic care provision for children and young people with continuing and complex healthcare needs and I have carried this through in my current role as Director of Clinical Services at Children's Complex Care.
Throughout my career I have always been very passionate about education and I am currently a guest lecturer for Complex and Palliative Care Modules for student nurses at a University in London. My focus is always on good clinical governance, quality care provision and ensuring that the child/young person and the family feel supported at all times. Meeting the needs and enhancing the quality of life for every child/young person we support is of paramount importance to me.

About Laura
I have worked in the healthcare sector for over 12 years – starting my journey as a health care assistant, delivering hands on care to adults, children and young people which involved those who presented with autism, challenging behaviour and complex needs.
I have always strived for new challenges, so after 5 years I moved to one of the UK’s leading specialists in Spinal Cord Injury and Acquired Brain Injury where I took on the responsibilities of a Senior Care Coordinator, Customer Service Manager and then mobilising new business within the Commercial Department.
During my journey I worked alongside Eileen Lock, who was our Managing Director. Eileen then moved onto pastures new. To my surprise, after 6 years of service, I was head-hunted by Eileen for my current role at Children's Complex Care as the Service Delivery Manager, which I have now done for just over a year.

About Hannah
Before working for Children's Complex Care, I worked for a community healthcare provider for nearly 4 years in a similar role, supporting care staff looking after children and young people with complex health needs in the community. Prior to that I worked as a nurse on a children’s ward providing care for children with a variety of acute health needs.
I started working in the home care sector approximately 7 years ago. I am passionate about children and young people being able to reach their full potential and being cared for in their own homes. I’ve been lucky enough to support many transitions from hospital to the community and it is a privilege to support these children in their own environments.
When I joined Children's Complex Care in 2018 and was impressed by the high level of support given to the families we support and the experience of the team I was joining. I applied to work with Children's Complex Care as I wanted to work with a provider who specialised in children with complex care needs.

About Christiana
Ever since I was a little child, I've loved looking after other people. I have always really liked being around children and helping them.
I have previously worked at the Royal London Hospital on a general paediatric ward, specialising in haematology and oncology as well as respiratory conditions. I worked on the wards for about 10 years, but needed a new challenge.
I was recommended Children's Complex Care by a friend and I was really impressed by the set-up and I was really interested in helping children with complex care needs in the community. I really enjoy being part of the Children's Complex Care team. Everyone is really well trained and knowledgeable and its like a little family.
In my role, I am responsible for ensuring safety and stability within the packages we support. I liaise with parents, staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure care plans, medications and processes are up to date and that everything is running smoothly. No two days are the same, and it's a challenging role, but it's nice to see the difference we are making to the lives of the children and young people we support and their families. Helping families is also a big part of the job and that's something else I really enjoy.
In my spare time I like to read fiction and I really enjoy singing a bit of soul, jazz and R&B. I used to be in a gospel choir with my local church and that's stayed with me over the years.

About Mark
I am an adult trained nurse with experience in the critical care (ICU) settings (both adult and paediatrics) and I am originally trained and qualified in the Philippines. Sharing my knowledge and skills are my passion. When I used to work for the NHS, I mentored student nurses and newly qualified nurses to assess their knowledge and skills competence.
In 2018, Children's Complex Care gave me an opportunity to bring my expertise into the community. It is challenging and equally exciting as most of the time, we teach and up-skill staff with no experience in healthcare; equipping them with basic nursing skills. Together with my colleagues in the Education Team, we have the capacity to help staff feel confident and competent to deliver care to our clients.

About Gemma
I studied at King’s College London University and qualified as a Children’s Nurse in September 2015. I started out as a Newly Qualified Nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital on the Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) and worked there for over three years.
In 2017-2018 I embarked on a year of part time study with London Southbank University where I undertook the Paediatric Intensive Care Course at Master’s Level. The Course enabled me to develop my skills as a Cardiac Intensive Care Nurse but also gave me the opportunity to experience working in both NICU and general PICU settings.
I returned to full time shifts on the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit where I then became a ‘Preceptor’. As a ‘Preceptor’, I worked alongside a Newly Qualified Nurse for 3 months where I would support them on their shifts to the point where they became confident and competent to work more autonomously. It was within this role that I realised I had a passion for teaching and I wanted to explore my skills in Training and Education further.
I applied for the Clinical Nurse Educator role at the end of 2018 and I have been working as a Clinical Nurse Educator with Children's Complex Care since February 2019. As a Clinical Nurse Educator, I deliver a variety of clinical training sessions to staff, provide clinical support to them on shift and complete competency assessments in the child/young person’s home.
I love that this role is varied and that no two days are ever the same. I enjoy learning new things and despite being in an ‘Educator’ role, there is always more to learn aiding my own progression and development.

About Valaine
I started my career in my home country of Jamaica as a Cadet Nurse in Kingston and have worked in healthcare for over 22 years. Nursing has always been a passion of mine. I aspired to be a nurse as a child, with a keen interest in paediatric nursing. I’ve always wanted to do something that is challenging, interesting and makes a difference to family's lives and passionately believe that nurses are the cornerstone of any care team.

I’ve always wanted to do something that is challenging, interesting and makes a difference to family's lives and passionately believe that nurses are the cornerstone of any care team.
In previous roles, I've worked as a senior nurse in a renowned teaching hospital specialising in Haematology and Oncology. I have experience of working in Accident and Emergency, children’s intensive care and complex needs in the community. I've been running specialised training for over 5 years and have prior experience of conducting mandatory training courses for various training companies in the South East.
I moved to Children's Complex Care as a Clinical Educator to help facilitate training, assessing and evaluating clinical skills of Health Care workers in a community setting.
As a Clinical Educator I enjoy imparting my knowledge to colleagues, creating a safe space for learning and being adaptable everyone’s needs. I believe everyone can be trained to become a great health care support worker, with the right support. Everyone learns in different ways, but no-one is untrainable!]
In my spare time I enjoy baking (my speciality is Jamaican Rum Cake), wine tasting, fitness, running and the gym (so I can eat more of my cooking!) and travelling to sunny destinations with great beaches!

About Joharra
I started my nursing career at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) where I worked in a paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for three years. I took a year off to go travelling and came back to GOSH as a Research Nurse. I was lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to attend different study days and training of which I valued and has helped me expand my skills and knowledge as a paediatric nurse.
I began working at Children's Complex Care in May 2020, I have always enjoyed teaching, whether it was with students, newly qualified nurses, HCA’s or anyone that was new to the workplace. It is incredibly rewarding to see colleagues grow in confidence and knowledge in order to provide the best possible care for our children and their families.
