The people we support at Phoenix House enjoy a wide range of exciting activities and adventures. With each opportunity they pursue and outing they plan, our team ensure the people we support make meaningful, lasting memories and develop important skills along the way.
Getting out and about
At Phoenix House, the people we support love getting out and exploring. Whether it’s a favourite local spot or somewhere completely new, there’s always an adventure to be had.
The cinema is a firm favourite, and one memorable trip saw the household heading out to watch Zootropolis 2. Enjoying every moment, the laughter didn’t stop when the credits rolled! The whole house was filled with joy long after they got home.
Another unforgettable adventure took them to the aquarium, where the day was filled with curiosity and wonder. From exploring Bristol’s vibrant streets before standing face-to-face with incredible sea life, there was excitement at every turn. And of course, no visit would be complete without trying to find Nemo!
They’ve also enjoyed visits to nearby cathedrals, taking in the stunning architecture and rich history at their own pace. These quieter activities are just as meaningful as busier adventures – especially when followed by a shared meal and time spent together in the city.
Celebrating special occasions is another important part of life at Phoenix House. When housemate Mike marked his birthday, the team organised a day centred around his interests, including trips to the aquarium and bowling alley. With a monkey-themed cake and plenty of opportunities to spend time together, it was a memorable celebration enjoyed by everyone.
At Phoenix House, our team ensure everyone’s support is person-centred and truly respects individual choices. They take the time to understand each person’s interests, passions, and what makes them happiest. So, they can turn simple days out into something much bigger – a life filled with joy, connection, and unforgettable experiences!
Rainy days are wonderful
The weather isn’t always on our side, but that doesn’t stop the fun for Phoenix House, who always make sure there’s something meaningful for the people we support to do. In fact, they’re experts at transforming rainy days into cosy, joy-filled moments!
When the weather’s gloomy, the people we support can be found baking delicious, sweet treats, filling the house with warmth and the smell of fresh bakes. They’ve also held sporting tournaments at home, engaging with bowling and board games. In these warm moments, the people we support strengthen their bonds with each other. There’s always laughter echoing through the rooms!
Taking time to slow down and recharge at home is important for our housemates at Phoenix House. They love spending some quiet time in our dedicated sensory room. With soft, interactive fish lights and gentle music playing, it becomes a peaceful space where they can truly relax and unwind.
At Phoenix House, every day is shaped around what people need then and there. Whether that’s excitement, creativity, or quiet moments of calm. Rain or shine, it’s a place where everyone can feel comfortable to be themselves and enjoy meaningful moments.
Special visitors
Creating memorable experiences is an important part of life at Phoenix House, and over the years the people we support have enjoyed some truly unique opportunities.
One particularly special experience involved welcoming some very unusual visitors: penguins!
Bringing together the people we support, their families and the team, the visit gave everyone the chance to see these incredible animals up close and take part in a unique therapeutic experience. Everyone learned fascinating facts about the penguins and even discovered what a penguin cuddle feels like, creating plenty of smiles and lasting memories.
