28 Blenheim Road (Blenheim), Deal, Kent, CT14 7DB, United Kingdom
At Blenhiem Road we support three residents with learning disabilities. At Blenheim House we currently support two young men who have mild learning difficulties and challenging behaviour. The home is a five minute walk from the town centre and seafront and is also close to bus and train links. Our residents are encouraged to enjoy use local amenities, with or without staff support as appropriate. The gentlemen we support has reached this level of independence after several years of working with a consistent staff team. Another gentleman had the goal of being able to travel out of town – he now does this once a week. He is also able to visit car boot fairs and second hand shops where he enjoys browsing. The staffs have a good relationship with his family and support him to travel home on regular visits. Both men work in the area as volunteers in various roles to expand their skill sets, as they would like to find paid employment in the future. We believe each person should choose how they spend their time and what activities they want to take part in. These currently include attending clubs and social groups, as well as meeting up with friends, swimming and going to the cinema. One gentleman plays Saturday league football and as part of this he travels to away fixtures with his team mates without staff support. He has won awards and enjoyed functions and prize giving events The residents living at Blenheim House enjoy cooking and challenging the staff with new recipes. The home has a small garden, where one man enjoys growing his own produce. The staff team at Blenheim House have worked together for years and are a close group who support each other. They receive ongoing training tailored to the current needs of the individuals they support. The staff team all have different strengths, allowing them to deliver a diverse care package. There is an overwhelming feeling of trust and respect in the home and a relaxed atmosphere. Any concerns are addressed quickly and efficiently and the happiness of the people we support is paramount.
