Lorenzo Drive is one of our specialist brain injury rehabilitation homes in the North West. Originally opened in 2017, it enjoys a quiet position in a suburban, residential area of Liverpool.
Since opening, Lorenzo Drive has delivered community-based rehabilitation to those navigating a brain injury journey. Whether they’re in the early stages of rehab, navigating independent living, or transitioning back into the community, Lorenzo Drive’s support is bespoke, specialist, and life changing.
This year, we’ve expanded our expert provision at Lorenzo Drive to include two brand-new, state-of-the-art independent living wings.
Previously offering step-down accommodation between residential and supported living, our expert team identified a need for an additional step to provide a seamless transition between the two support types.
Earlier this summer, worked completed on our additional wings, which offer essential opportunities for independent living, with the reassurance of specialist residential support. The first of its kind in the area, our new accommodation offers an important intervention for those who have progressed in a residential setting and are looking to nurture their confidence within their own home.
Specialist support for success
Johnpaul McNally has been the Registered Manager at Lorenzo Drive since 2020. Supported by a dedicated team, they’ve carved out a unique approach to supporting people who have suffered neurological traumas.
Our team at Lorenzo Drive achieve outstanding outcomes for the people we support – with a solid reputation for successfully and safely rehabilitating individuals back to the community.
There are many reasons Johnpaul and the team achieve such incredible successes with the people we support. Engaging them with a holistic, slow stream rehabilitation approach, support is delivered by a knowledgeable team who live in the local area. With their support, our housemates at Lorenzo Drive are empowered to safely and confidently navigate daily life.
Lorenzo Drive focuses on returning individuals back to the community, so they may live independently in their own homes. With their holistic approach, they understand some people may not return to their families or previous living arrangements. Supporting them to navigate a transition to a new home environment, they engage individuals with a bespoke independent living pathway. Previously, this involved stepping down from our residential setting to our supported living wing.
For some, this provided the ideal middle ground between being fully integrated in community and benefitting from some support. For others, the step from residential support to supported living didn’t align with their long-term needs or goals.
Through these insights, our team at Lorenzo Drive identified a need for independent living accommodation with a higher-level of engagement from a dedicated support team.
Extending our expertise
Comprising two wings, our new development offers residential support within a supported living model. Across the North West, this type of accommodation is in high demand and offers a crucial step to long-term success for those integrating back into the community.
Our new extension at Lorenzo Drive offers additional, beneficial steps to the rehabilitation journey. Ideal for those who have reached their potential in residential support, it offers an extension of our slow stream rehabilitation within an independent living environment.
One building comprises eight apartments, enhanced with expert support from our team. The second wing features four specially designed accessible bungalows, with individual access, reinforcing a sense of independence.
Our extension at Lorenzo Drive has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate what people with a brain injury truly need from their living environment. The apartments feature a range of adapted rooms, including adapted kitchens to meet the needs of those with additional mobility requirements. Those who live in our new apartments and bungalows will also benefit from access to communal areas within our residential building, as well as a brand-new outdoor space located at the rear of our new apartment building. Across all our buildings at Lorenzo Drive, everyone we support has access to a range of rehabilitation facilities. These include a therapy room, gym, and additional training kitchens.
Within both wings, our team will continue to support people along a slow stream pathway, setting and working towards goals that will help them transition back to the community. A functional approach ensures they redevelop lost skills they’ve lost and develop compensatory strategies where needed. With these techniques, and the right living environment, they can confidently and safely navigate daily life.
