Health Awareness Focus

At Voyage Care, supporting the wellbeing of the people we support starts with empowering our teams with the knowledge and confidence they need to deliver outstanding care. As part of a growing focus on health awareness across our organisation, our Clinical Educator, Andrea, is leading a campaign of learning. Designed to strengthen understanding around key health topics, she’s providing practical guidance for colleagues across our whole organisation.

This continued focus on health awareness plays an important role in helping colleagues feel informed and supported. As a result, they can increase their confidence, and safely and effectively recognise and respond to the diverse health needs of the people we support. By creating opportunities to learn about a wide range of health topics, we’re creating a culture where wellbeing and person-centred care are at the heart of everything we do.

The voice behind the actions

Across our organisation, we have many amazing colleagues with incredible passion and drive for what they do, including Andrea. She supports the training and development of our support teams as well as helping to raise clinical awareness across wider teams.

A registered nurse, Andrea has a lot of clinical health knowledge. She’s also aware of just how important it is that everyone is informed with the right practices and techniques to keep the people we support in good health!

She’s developed a plan focusing on health awareness and getting the right information to our teams. Creating more digestible ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions to make training easier and more accessible for everyone.

This year’s focus

Throughout 2026, our colleagues will have access to a range of health awareness topics designed to support professional development and daily care delivery. Covering a variety of important subjects, Andrea is helping us raise awareness around the importance of good physical and mental wellbeing. By making these resources available across our organisation, we’re creating a strong shared understanding of health and wellbeing.

Over the spring, we focused on respiratory conditions and pneumonia, infections and sepsis, heart health, and stroke awareness. Each of these subjects is essential to our frontline teams. Having the correct knowledge and practices in place for each could help save someone’s life.

Throughout the summer, we’re talking about seasonal health topics like allergies and anaphylaxis, safety in the sun, hydration, and bites and stings. Helping colleagues across our organisation to recognise risks and support positive wellbeing during the warmer months.

In the autumn, we’ll be diving into sessions about vaccinations, falls, infection control and viruses, and epilepsy awareness. Supporting teams to better understand common health risks and respond confidently to situations that may impact the wellbeing and safety of the people we support.

Towards the end of the year, our winter focus will cover topics like staying healthy when the sun isn’t out, burns and scalds, staying warm in the winter months, and what to eat to beat the winter blues. So, we’ll cover everything our teams need to support both physical and mental health through the chillier season.

The programme covers a wide range of relevant health topics throughout the year. Encouraging learning, building confidence, and supporting our teams to deliver safe and effective person-centred care.

Supporting teams and improving care

By strengthening health awareness across our organisation, we’re having a direct impact on the confidence and capability of our support colleagues. Helping them to feel more prepared to respond to a wider range of situations safely and effectively, whilst ensuring their care is proactive, informed and delivers incredible outcomes with the people we support.

Our health awareness programme also reinforces a culture of continuous learning, where colleagues across Voyage Care are encouraged to develop their knowledge and skills so they can keep delivering life-changing support!
