Supporting You

At Heather House, we work with you to co-create a person-centred support plan based around your unique needs, interests, and aspirations. Focusing on what’s important to you as an individual, your plan is tailored to meet your preferences and values, so you can lead a life that’s meaningful to you!

Our passionate team encourages you to engage in opportunities to learn new skills, become more independent, and embrace new experiences.

As well as providing a full programme of in-house activities, such as craft sessions, therapeutic music sessions, and sensory sessions, we also encourage you to become an active member of the community. This might include everyday activities, like using local shops and cafes, or broadening your horizons with volunteering opportunities and college courses.

Our Commitment to Quality

Our registered services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England and the Care Inspectorate in Scotland and Wales. As a sector-leading provider, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality, safe, and effective care and support that you can trust.

Community

Our home has good public transport links with local bus routes to nearby cities.

At Heather House, we regularly enjoy days out to our local open-air museum and country parks. We also take regular trips to Gateshead, Newcastle, and Durham where we visit historical museums, cat cafes, theatres, and our local steam train railway for afternoon tea on the train!

We ensure we make good use of the various facilities in our local community. This includes going to accessible discos, the cinema, bowling alley, library, restaurants and cafes, and outdoor picnics when the weather’s warm!

At our local village hall, we join in with activities such as keep fit classes, bingo, and seasonal fairs. We also maintain excellent relationships with organisations like our local gym, where health professionals are available to support you to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle!

Our Team

Our team involves you in all decisions about you care and support. This includes making choices about what foods you eat, activities you want to try, and holidays you want to go on!

We also value your opinions about the running of the home and who delivers your support. So, if we ever recruit for new support colleagues, you’ll be involved in the process!
