Willowbrook is a purpose-built service where we support six people with an brain injury and associated needs, including physical disabilities and behaviour support. We are a Headway Approved Provider.
If and when funding is approved for an individual, we have access to a range of therapy input, including speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, psychology and occupational therapy sessions. Any programmes introduced by the therapists are implemented on a daily basis by the support team. We aim to provide an open, friendly and person-centred service, treating each person as an individual and supporting them to develop their skills in a variety of areas.
We ensure that each individual plays a key role in deciding how we support them, and involve families and other professional as appropriate. We have monthly meetings where everyone can have a say about how the service is run; decisions to come out of these meetings include building raised beds to grow vegetables and developing a second kitchen where individuals can further their cooking skills. We also discuss menus. People are given the opportunity to be involved in interviewing new staff, if they wish.
Willowbrook has been designed in consultation with a range of professionals to provide an environment which is welcoming, yet still meets the needs of the people we support. Particular attention has been given to specialist equipment, such as adjustable tables, ceiling tracking and adapted bathrooms. All the bedrooms have en-suite facilities. We have a games/activity room in service and a large garden with a separate seating area.
Our staff team are experienced and highly skilled. We have a stable staff team, which provides consistency and familiarity for the people they support. All staff receive specialist brain injury rehabilitation training. We want everyone to lead a full and active life with the opportunity to try new experiences.
