Markham house is a specialist brain injury rehabilitation service located in Chesterfield. Our dedicated team use a person-centred approach to support 17 adults with brain injuries to develop their cognitive and practical skills, while regaining their independence.

Facilities

Situated in a quiet area, our spacious home has 17 en-suite bedrooms, ideal for private personal care needs and added independence. In the main building, our home has shared communal areas including a lounge, art room and a fully equipped kitchen.

Just next door is our day centre where we have a quiet room and a training kitchen – great for perfecting your cooking skills!

We also have a large, enclosed garden featuring a patio area and a water feature – perfect for the people we support to enjoy in the warmer months! We encourage all housemates to pitch in and maintain the garden to help with developing their daily living skills.

Markham House also benefits from several open-plan, wheelchair accessible bungalows. These are designed for individuals needing less support, enabling them to live more independently within a safe environment, before transitioning back into the community.

Our team

Before moving to Markham House, our team spend time with each person at their existing placement, to ensure transitions are as smooth as possible.

In addition to our highly trained team, we work alongside skilled therapists who devise, implement and regularly review therapy programmes for each person we support.

Markham House is located near the market town of Bolsover. Our home has many local amenities nearby, including supermarkets, shops and cafés.

We also have great transport links, meaning the people we support can easily travel to local towns such as Chesterfield and Clowne.
