Barley Close provides Outstanding quality care and support as rated by the CQC to ten individuals with severe learning and physical disabilities. We are also experienced in supporting people with epilepsy, autistic spectrum conditions and other complex needs.
We aim to support each resident to live life to the fullest and we continually strive to discover new challenges which will enrich their life experiences. We offer a varied programme of in house activities, including music, art innovation, massage and reflexology.
The care and support at Barley Close is truly person centred and each resident has a set of key workers who ensure that daily living is as good as is possible for that individual. Our care packages are carefully designed to reflect not only the person’s needs, but also their choices and aspirations.
Barley Close is a detached house with beautiful views on three sides, set in the midst of a strong community. It is only two miles from the sea and three miles from Axminster, which has a range of facilities for our residents to participate in.
Everyone is encouraged and supported to make the most of the facilities available to them in the community, including social clubs, churches and schools. We provide varied activities, both within and outside of the service, which cater to our resident’s needs.
Our home has a training kitchen with low level worktops where everyone can help prepare meals, with support staff. All areas of Barley Close are specially designed to respond to the various needs of the people who live there, while maintaining a warm environment. There is also a sensory room and a conservatory for our residents to enjoy.
Barley Close has rustic, landscaped gardens with a large patio area and a herb garden. Each of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities. All of the ground floor bedrooms are wheelchair accessible and have ceiling tracking. Further adaptations can be made to meet individuals’ needs. The upstairs bedrooms have spectacular views of the countryside.
