Our Home
52 Carville Road is a specialist brain injury care home located in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear. We’re a Headway Approved Provider, offering person-centred support to up to 12 people with an acquired brain injury. Using a specialist approach, we offer compassionate support to those with complex needs, including low levels of challenging behaviour, epilepsy, physical disabilities, and mental health needs.

Our experienced team creates personalised support plans focusing on cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. With a multidisciplinary team by your side, you’ll gently develop understanding of your brain injury and rediscover your confidence in everyday scenarios. With our compassionate approach, we’ll guide you through functional, daily activities that easily fit into your daily routine. So, developing your skills will feel natural!
Our care plans are crafted to manage the unique challenges of brain injury, with regular reviews to re-assess goals and celebrate progress. Beyond this, we’ll encourage you to maintain personal interests and relationships, fostering a sense of community and connection.
Facilities
Carville Road is an inviting, purpose-designed home, thoughtfully adapted to accommodate the various accessibility needs experienced after brain injury. We have a lift to the first floor, wet rooms, ceiling tracking, adjustable beds, and hoists to support those with mobility challenges.
We have two bedrooms on the ground floor and 10 rooms on the first floor. Two of our rooms have extended, self-contained facilities, including their own kitchenettes. Offering added independence, they are ideal for longer-term accommodation and those with re-developed independent living skills.
Our fully furnished en-suite bedrooms are complemented by a variety of communal areas. We have a dedicated activity room, a training kitchen for developing daily living skills, three living rooms, a large kitchen-diner, and an enclosed garden. For added comfort, we’ve also installed under-floor heating throughout the home!

Community
Our home is in Wallsend, North Tyneside, a town that has a rich Roman history. Close by, you’ll find the accessible metro system, which we use for trips to the coast, Newcastle city centre and Sunderland. We have good access to our local community, which is home to lots of convenient amenities and transport routes for enjoying cultural, social, and leisure facilities.
Our Team
Our experienced team have received specialist training to understand the emotional and cognitive complexities of acquired brain injuries. Whether you are with us short-term or need a more permanent home, we’ll adopt a person-centred, holistic approach that helps you navigate your injury with compassion and confidence. We offer round-the-clock care, with a full support team during the day and two waking night colleagues. So, we’re here, whenever you need us.
