Modern slavery statement
About Voyage Care
Voyage Care provides care and support services to adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and other complex and challenging support needs across the UK. The people we support are funded by local authorities, Integrated Care Boards, other health and social care organisations, or directly by the individuals themselves.
Voyage Care is committed to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the Act) and recognises the scale and seriousness of modern slavery and human trafficking, including the impact on its victims. We undertake robust recruitment and identity checks to help prevent modern slavery within our business while acknowledging that ongoing vigilance is necessary as the risk cannot be eliminated entirely. We employ over 10,000 people across our operations. We recognise that international recruitment and overseas employment practices can present increased risks related to modern slavery and labour exploitation. We also recognise the ongoing increase in modern slavery cases within the health and social care sector and remain committed to identifying and addressing associated risks. As an equal opportunities’ employer, we remain fully committed to providing our staff with a safe working environment where they feel confident reporting any concerns.
This statement describes the steps we have taken during the financial year ending 31st March 2026 in our commitment to eliminating modern slavery in our business and supply chains.
Training and awareness
We provide regular training to ensure our staff remain aware of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains. Participation in our Modern Slavery and Anti-Trafficking e-learning module remains high and is a mandatory training module for new employees as part of their induction.
Our staff are encouraged to use our independent and confidential whistleblowing reporting service to raise concerns of wrongdoing in the workplace, including suspicions of modern slavery, at any time. We have supplemented our e-learning with a ‘Red Flag Guide to Modern Slavery’ available on Hive to assist our staff to identify colleagues who may be at risk of, or victims of, modern slavery.
We plan to continue our work to raise awareness of modern slavery amongst our colleagues by implementing a poster campaign throughout our Services and at Group Support.
Recruitment processes
We recognise that the adult social care sector carries an increased risk of labour exploitation due to factors such as workforce pressures, reliance on agency staffing and the recruitment of sponsored workers. In this context, providers must maintain robust recruitment standards, ethical employment practices and effective oversight of recruitment partners to ensure workforce challenges do not heighten the risk of exploitation or unethical recruitment.
All employees within our organisation are recruited through formal processes that include identity verification, right‑to‑work checks and appropriate referencing, in line with UK employment and immigration legislation. Mindful of the heightened risks for migrant care workers, Voyage Care only offers sponsorships to individuals who are already in the UK and hold the appropriate visas. Sponsorship requests are reviewed on a case‑by‑case basis and regular audits ensure continued compliance with the immigration rules, including verification of genuine roles, appropriate salary levels and fair working conditions.
As our organisation grows through acquisitions, we continue to strengthen HR governance to ensure newly acquired services adopt consistent recruitment standards and modern slavery safeguards across the Group.
Through these measures, we aim to mitigate the risk of exploitation, support ethical recruitment practices and ensure that all colleagues are treated with dignity, fairness and respect.
Supplier and third-party partners
We have developed a New Supplier Application Form to strengthen vetting of prospective suppliers, which is currently being piloted. The information gathered will enable us to complete essential due diligence before awarding any contract and streamline any subsequent onboarding process.
We intend to further strengthen our vetting procedures by developing a more detailed due diligence questionnaire for contracts that are considered high risk.
Monitoring our effectiveness
We review the effectiveness of our internal policies on an annual basis to ensure they continue to support our commitment to eradicating modern slavery within our business and meeting the requirements of the Act. Where needed, we will adapt our policies and practices accordingly. We have not received any reports from employees, external agencies or the public indicating any instances of modern slavery within business.
This statement was approved by the Board of Directors on 24 March 2026.
