Autism specialist service 
Elmsmead is one of our specialist autism services located in Taunton, Somerset. We provide support for up to 11 individuals with autism, learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, epilepsy, and mental health needs
Supporting you
Our aim is to provide a warm, welcoming and open environment, empowering each person we support to live fulfilling lives. Through learning and developing new skills and experiencing new opportunities, they are encouraged to live the life they choose and achieve a level of independence that’s right for them.
We pride ourselves on enabling freedom of choice and putting each person at the heart of decision making. By treating each person as an individual and applying a person-centred approach, we ensure the people we support pursue opportunities that are meaningful to them.
We offer the people we support the opportunity to connect with the local community by attending local colleges engaging with volunteer groups and getting involved in local events.
Our team encourages the people we support to engage with both in-house and community-based leisure activities to boost their social skills and independence. These include picnics in the park, trips to the seaside, swimming, bowling, garden games and sensory activities!
The team
We benefit from a 24-hour support team. All members of our team understand the importance of supporting each person to develop their emotional wellbeing and functional living skills, so they can achieve their goals and become more independent!
We work closely with other health and social care professionals and invite feedback from family members, friends and advocates, so we can continue to deliver excellent care and support to each person.
Facilities
Our home is a large Victorian house. All the bedrooms have ensuite facilities and can be adapted and personalised to meet individual needs and tastes.
We also have spacious shared areas including two lounges, two dining areas and a kitchen, which is available for everyone to use with supervision and support. We benefit from our own heated indoor swimming pool and have access to the facilities at other nearby Voyage Care services, including sensory rooms and an art room!
All rooms are tastefully decorated and maintained to a high standard. The home is set in mature gardens with a vegetable patch and lawn. We can make adaptations to meet the needs of individuals. Our ground floor, which includes some bedrooms, is accessible for wheelchair users.
