Woodside Respite offers a fantastic opportunity for people with a learning disability or other complex needs to enjoy a break in the holiday village of Minehead in Somerset. All guests receive 24 hour shared support from trained and experienced staff who are friendly and committed to meeting your needs. There are vehicles available for transport to local attractions and activities.

Before your stay with us, we will complete a pre-assessment to ensure that your wishes and needs are all meet during the time you are with us. We then complete a personalised care plan which is shared with our staff before you arrive. You can visit us for the day or stay overnight before booking for a longer period, this gives you the opportunity to get to know staff and our accommodation. We can also provide support at short notice and in emergencies, subject to availability.

Facilities

Woodside is a large, spacious eight bedroom home set in large gardens. It benefits from three different outside areas, all of which are kept private with surrounding large trees and bushes. We offer in-house activities including arts and crafts, gardening and games. Other activities can be provided on request, where possible.

The eight large bedrooms all have en-suite facilities and lovely views of the home’s grounds and the hills surrounding Minehead. Two of the bedrooms downstairs are wheelchair accessible and fitted with a ceiling hoist which can access the whole room, and the adjoining bathroom.

We are located in a residential area on the outskirts of Minehead, about 10 minutes’ walk from the town centre and 15 minutes from the beach. The walk from Woodside is through a quiet park which starts directly outside the home.

Minehead is a small seaside town in West Somerset, 45 minutes from the M5, junction 25 at Taunton or junction 26 Bridgwater. Minehead is set in beautiful scenery which has plenty to offer. There are lots of local walks in the surrounding hills, woods and beaches.

For visitors interested in getting out and about there are a variety of activities to do. One of the main attractions in Minehead is The West Somerset Railway, which has daily trips during the summer. There is also a Butlins venue in Minehead, which offers a large range of activities and caters for all abilities and interests. During the summer we visit Wimbleball Lake weekly and take part in their sailing sessions, which cater for people with learning disabilities and wheelchair users.
