Rusthall Respite

Supporting you

Here at Rusthall Respite, we provide short-term care and support for up to five people at a time, who have a range of learning disabilities and autism. We also have lots of experience of supporting people with complex or challenging needs. We can accommodate people with physical disabilities in our two bedrooms on the ground floor, which are equipped with overhead hoists that are able to go into the en-suite shower room.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in a programme of activities that reflects their individual choices and preferences. We have two vehicles that can accommodate clients for trips out or to attend local day centres, one of these has been adapted to accommodate a wheelchair.

We recognise the importance of relationships with family and friends and visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. We also support people to develop new friendships to make their stay as enjoyable as possible.

We encourage everyone to participate in house meetings so that everyone has a voice in what meals and outings they may like to participate in whilst staying at Rusthall Respite. We can also transport clients to their usual day centres if these are not too far away, ie. 15 miles radius, as we appreciate some people still like to attend these so that they have a certain amount of continuity during their stay.

We are located in a residential area of Rusthall village, which is a five minute drive from excellent shopping and leisure facilities in Tunbridge Wells town centre. The village also has good public transport connections into Tunbridge Wells.

Rusthall Respite is a large modern house. The bedrooms and communal areas are spacious and well-furnished. There are five bedrooms which all have en-suite facilities. The service also has a conservatory which overlooks our large garden.
