Burwell

We support adults with learning disabilities and varying support needs from mobility, epilepsy, autistic and challenging behaviours.

Supporting you

The service is set up as 2 four bedroom bungalows on the same site, it is staffed 24 hours a day with a waking night in one bungalow between 10pm-07.30am, and a sleep in the other bungalow.

Our Vision is to provide consistent, flexible person centred support that meets the needs of each individual, promoting independence and respecting choices while keeping people safe.

We work with both internal and external networks to continuously assess and review service delivery, develop out staff teams and undertake assessments to ensure the support delivered is relevant, of best quality and continues to meet the identified individual support needs.

We value diversity and individuality, treat people with respect and dignity and strive to offer people opportunities for growth and improvement and support them to make choice and respect these once made.

Location

The service is located in a nice small village just off the A142 between Newmarket and Ely and is  surrounded by other nice villages which offer various places of interest for the people we support to visit, such as garden centres, museums, farm shops with café’s that serve delicious homemade, organic meals and sweet treats.

The people we support participate in local activities such as carnivals, car boot sales, etc. and regularly access the local amenities such the village shops, library, pubs and take aways. Cambridge, Ely and Bury St Edmunds are all around a 20 minute drive away.

Facilities

Our environment is homely and designed to meet the needs of the people we support. The PWs are supported and encouraged to personalise and decorate their bedrooms in a style of their choice, the communal areas are furnished to high specification and the people we support are encouraged, through house meetings to contribute to the décor in these areas.
The people we support enjoy cooking and baking in the kitchen with staff support, and often potter in the garden in the summer watering the plant and helping set up hanging baskets.

The team

Day staff support from 7.30am-10pm.  We have a team of dedicated, enthusiastic and well trained staff who always find opportunities to make things fun for the PWS and are constantly striving to move the service forward, be adaptable and adopt a consistent approach while developing their skills and learning from each other.
