I am a qualified Paediatric Nurse with 20 years of experience in Children's healthcare. I began my career working on an Under 2's and High Dependency Unit and then moved to a Respiratory Ward as a Band 6 Junior Sister.
From there I moved to be a Ward Manager for a 15 bedded General Peadiatric and Surgical Unit. I worked extensively in both the acute and community settings before taking a role as Practice Development Facilitator and Senior Management at a Children's Hospice. Working in the Hospice and community enabled me to learn and understand the importance of individualised holistic care provision for children and young people with continuing and complex healthcare needs and I have carried this through in my current role heading the clinical service at Focused Healthcare.
Throughout my career I have always been very passionate about education and I am currently a guest lecturer for Complex and Palliative Care Modules for student nurses at a University in London. My focus is always on good clinical governance, quality care provision and ensuring that the child/young person and the family feel supported at all times. Meeting the needs and enhancing the quality of life for every child/young person we support is of paramount importance to me.
