I studied nursing at De-Montfort University in Leicester and worked in the department of Critical Care for 2 years before moving to UCLH in 2004. While at UCLH I completed my BSc Critical Care nursing studies and worked there up until 2006.
In 2006 I moved to Milton Keynes and worked as a Charge Nurse in ITU at Milton Keynes General hospital up until 2012 when I left to do agency work across many different hospitals in different ITU specialities. I have worked in Nuero ITU, Liver ITU, Cardiothoracic ITU, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, A&E and general ITU.
I worked as an agency nurse until 2017 when I joined Voyage Specialist Healthcare (VSH) as a clinical nurse Manager for the South Region. To me it was a huge change coming from such a bustling acute environment to a community setting.
My critical care and A&E skills came in handy especially when dealing with complex machines and different types of conditions the people we support have. I get satisfaction knowing people are able to be cared for in the comfort of their homes despite their life limiting conditions.
In 2019, I joined Focused Healthcare as a Clinical nurse Manager for the South East region. In my caseload, I support children and young people with different life limiting conditions. I am responsible for clinical assessments, care planning and care records writing, liaising with parents, specialist practitioners, community healthcare and social care teams and ensure the children and young people we support receive safe and effective care.
