Nassima Jama

Clinical Nurse Educator

I qualified as a nurse in 2018 but started my career as a health care assistant while I was a student nurse, working across adults and maternity care. Once qualified, I was based at a tertiary children’s hospital in London where I worked across numerous wards and specialities including cardiology , general paediatrics and gastroenterology. After that I wanted to gain experience in a critical setting, so moved to Paediatric Cardiac ICU.

Once my time on AICU/PCICU ended, I gained the position of Junior Sister, working in Trauma, Surgical and Orthopaedic care. In this role I managed staff, amended schedules, supported newly qualified nurses and was the student Key Practice Assessor, creating rotas while managing and facilitating learning needs.

In this role, I found the true joy of teaching and realised it was something I was passionate about. This brought me to Children’s Complex Care. Throughout my career and in all sectors I’ve worked in, I’ve had the pleasure of caring for children and young people with complex care needs and their families. In this role, I'll able to merge the knowledge and care I've obtained and directly teach others to maintain the wellbeing of children with complex needs and how to effectively support them in their homes.
