Olivia and Lisa Blue Hair

Olivia* moved into a service in Sussex in April 2017. Prior to this she lived at home with her parents and siblings and so it was anticipated by all who knew her that the transition into residential care in her 30’s would be a significant challenge for her.

Since moving in, Olivia* has gained 2.4 kilos, which is a huge achievement for her as previously there were concerns around her eating. She has settled very well and enjoys most activities, particularly participating in music sessions. She even has her favourite member of staff, who she calls ‘Lisa Blue Hair’.

Olivia* is visibly happy and proudly shows visitors her bedroom, which has been accessorised with her favourite colour purple.

In her recent review, Olivia’s* parents described what a tough decision it had been for her to leave the family home, but they are now so pleased that she is happy and feel that they have made the right decision. They also said how welcome they are made to feel whenever they visit and have even started referring to Olivia’s* favourite staff member as ‘Lisa Blue Hair’ too.
