A story of success! Meet Michael, our published author

Meet Michael!

Michael is a person we support at Welby Close, a residential care home located in Kent. He has Asperger’s syndrome, (a type of Autism) and requires support with daily living tasks. Our staff empower him to live as independently as possible and reach the goals he sets. With tailored care and support, Michael continues to achieve incredible things!

Dreaming big

Michael has been a passionate writer from a young age and as a child he would handwrite his stories. Drawing inspiration from a variety of authors, Michael took the next step towards his dreams in 1997, writing his first novel ‘Nature’s Revenge ‘Since then, Michael has written an impressive total of 21 novels and novellas, and seven of his books have been published! What a fantastic achievement!

Michael has a creative imagination and adventurous spirit, and his writing certainly reflects this! His debut published novel, ‘A Trio of Cartels’, was a thrilling crime-fiction story set in the Unites States. The lead character, Dave Bradley, appears throughout Michael’s writing, including his upcoming release ‘Bent on Justice’. Michael has always been fascinated by writing and he shared with us that he “likes to create worlds within fiction.”

Variety is the spice of life!

Our staff encourage the people we support to live fulfilled lives and take part in the activities they enjoy. Michael loves to read and enjoys a wide range of topics. He is an active member of the community and particularly enjoys going for walks and taking trips out in the car. With the support of our staff, Michael has also taken employment opportunities in local charity shops. Since moving to Welby Close in 2015, Michael’s ambitions have continued to grow. His support team empower him to keep aiming higher and smash all his goals! Through a tailored care plan to meet his needs, Michael is empowered to make decisions and live independently.

Continuing his success

Michael likes to keep himself busy and is already planning his next novel. Our staff are proud of everything he has achieved so far and continue to support all his creative ambitions!
