Could your story be the next chapter? All you need is love and a real passion to put others before yourself.

Valery Fallery is a Service Manager at Voyage Care who fell in love with care.

Here’s why…

In 1997, Valery had to choose a care home for her mother whose health was deteriorating. After her mother’s passing, Valery said “I questioned everything. I was driven by wanting and needing to know exactly how my mother had been cared for.”

Valery had never worked in the care sector before her mother’s passing. She then decided that to really know how her mother was cared for, she’d have to become a support worker herself. Valery initially worked in a care home for the elderly and reflected upon the experience, saying: “I was happy…ensuring they had a good quality of life.”

So how did she start working for Voyage Care?

Valery had worked with elderly people for five years when she asked herself: “Who supports people with learning disabilities? Did they receive specialist training? Who spoke up for them?”

She started working with people with learning disabilities and in 2011, Valery saw a position for a Registered Manager for Voyage Care, based in Essex. She was offered the role. She said she “knew immediately this is where I wanted to work.”

Her experience at Voyage Care has been a happy and successful one. Valery commented: “I feel I have been greatly supported, valued and appreciated to develop as a manager… I am driven by the need to know people are in control of their own lives, that they are listened to, living the way they choose, doing what they want to do with their lives, but most of all that they are happy.”

It’s a love that has really blossomed and working in care has changed Valery’s life. It could change your life too. Voyage Care is a fantastic place to work and you’ll get all the support and training you’ll need to fit right in!

Valery concluded, saying: “I love my job and my heart smiles every time I think about how much my mother would love me doing this.”
