Ben gets his first paid job

Ben Jordan is one of the people we support in Warwickshire and he has been volunteering at our Hinckley Day Service for more than three and a half years. The service provides day support to individuals with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum conditions and acquired brain injuries.

After volunteering for so long with Voyage Care, in September 2016 an opportunity arose for a paid position at the day service offering 10 hours a week. For Ben this would be his first experience of paid employment.

He was delighted to be offered the job at Hinckley Day Service and enjoys his new role. His responsibilities include answering the phone, taking messages for the day service manager or other members of staff. He also carries out administration work, including emailing and dealing with telephone enquiries.

Ben has settled well into his new job and is enjoying being given responsibilities and tasks. He has also started to save his wages and uses them to buy little treats for himself or his family.
