Overview

GIVEN THE VERY SPECIAL NEEDS of the people in our care, we provide a high ratio of staff to residents. This enables us to offer intensive, individualised support 24 hours a day. Naturally we are meticulous in the selection of our staff as their interaction and affinity with the people in their care is crucial to the service we provide.
Our selection process demands commitment, a positive attitude and relevant experience. We choose staff from diverse backgrounds who bring new and different ideas and knowledge. All are chosen for their understanding, acceptance and respect for our residents' needs. Favourable terms of service and remuneration, as well as job satisfaction, mean that our staff turnover is low, ensuring consistency and enduring relationships between staff and residents.
We have a strong commitment to staff training and never forget that our staff are our greatest asset. All our staff go through a comprehensive induction followed by further training to enable them to provide a high standard of care in all situations.
Career Study
Marisa
Marisa has worked in care for over eight years. During this time she’s been employed in many roles from support worker to her current position of home manager, Pinner Road.
She didn’t always want to work in care - during her school years she wanted to work in the legal profession. She started work in 1998 in a small residential home in Bromley as a support worker. She worked with service users who had learning disabilities during this time and improving people’s lives and seeing the difference that can be made really gave her a sense of achievement.
Before joining Voyage, Marisa worked in a number of different care settings, one of which was in a day care centre for BUPA in Kent as the day centre manager. She has also worked for Harrow Mencap as a deputy home manager. After joining Voyage in 2004 Marisa has never looked back. She enjoys working in this field as she feels that it was specifically designed for her.
