The Denes is a thriving service full of character and warmth, providing round-the-clock support to up to sixteen individuals with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities and mental health needs.
The Denes are accredited by the National Autistic Society. We take pride in ensuring exceptional skills are utilised to support those on the Autism Spectrum as well as those with other complex learning disabilities.
Our home consists of two buildings, Wood Dene and Ross Dene, the buildings are similar in layout, each comprising of eight bedrooms, communal living areas and tidy garden.
Other amenities include a transitional flat for those looking for more independent living, an art room offering a therapeutic release through creativity and a sensory development room giving stimulus through Intensive Interaction. There is a lift to promote access for individuals with mobility difficulties. The home environment is tailored to individual needs and can be further adapted upon assessment.
All our bedrooms have en-suite facilities and individuals are supported to decorate and furnish their own bedroom to their own specification.
Individuals at The Denes are supported by a full compliment of dedicated and experienced staff. The team remains consistent, with one staff member holding the mantle of supporting individuals here at The Denes for over 15 years.All staff complete a high level of varied training including National Diplomas, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, Administration of Medication, Autism Awareness, Crisis Intervention, Understanding Behaviour and Communication courses. Staff pay particular attention to supporting and educating each other. They are all regularly supervised and their practices observed and monitored by both the service’s management team and each other. By having a culture of open support and education it ensures all staff deliver a high level of practical person centred care. The team are motivated by assisting the people we support to achieve positive outcomes in their lives. Happy to make possible the chance to achieve their dreams and ambitions, with no obstacle too big.
The Denes are located in the Lofthouse area of Wakefield, between Wakefield Centre and Leeds.
The service is in close proximity to areas of outstanding natural beauty, heritage sites, town and city centres and leisure amenities.
